Welcome to the Township of Machar

Welcome to the Township of Machar! We’re nestled in the northern end of the Almaguin Highlands. We surround the Village of South River. We feature several beautiful lakes, including Eagle Lake, Bray Lake and King Lake. We’re home to Mikisew Provincial Park on the western shores of Eagle Lake and we’re conveniently close to the entrance for Algonquin Park. We have a permanent population of approximately 1,000 which increases regularly with visitors. We feature beautiful peaceful surroundings while being perfectly placed between Huntsville and North Bay, each within a 40 minute drive on a 4 lane highway.
